Procida is located in the Gulf of Naples and, together with Ischia, Vivara (with which it is connected by a bridge) and Nisida, is part of the Flegree Islands. These pearls of the Tyrrhenian Sea, together with Capri, which is about 30 kilometers away, make up the Campanian (or Neapolitan) Archipelago.
Procida this year was proclaimed Italian capital of culture for 2022, has all the charm of a seaside village, with the characteristic colored architecture that is reflected in the sea and that have been the backdrop to numerous films, from "Il postino" with Massimo Troisi to "The Talented Mr. Ripley" with Matt Damon.
Much of its coastline is protected by the marine protected area Regno di Nettuno (Neptune's Kingdom), while the town is divided into nine districts: Terra Murata (the oldest village dominated by the former prison), Corricella, which has the appearance of a typical fishing village, Sent'cò with the port of Marina Grande, San Leonardo, Santissima Annunziata, Sant'Antuono, Sant'Antonio and Chiaiolella, Semmarezio. A tour of the island of Procida by boat is the best way to admire its hidden face and discover caves, coves and ravines visible only from the sea.
There are many shipping companies that offer the tour of the island of Procida, some also by sailboat or gozzo, and also organize underwater visits and fishing trips with the line. All excursions leave from the main port, where you will also find the information offices of the various companies.
